Proposed Changes to CDG 2009 - EU Exit

The Department for Transport have published a consultation to update the Carriage of Dangerous Goods and Use of Transportable Pressure Equipment Regulations 2009 (CDG 2009).

Why the update?

These updates are aimed to re-word some terms in light of Brexit and to re-introduce the legal requirement for vapour recovery systems to be installed on mobile tankers carrying petrol (CDG 1996 Reg 5), which was unintentionally revoked by The Petroleum (Consolidation) Regulations 2014.

Who should read this document?

Anyone involved in the carriage of dangerous goods, who carries out an activity related to the carriage of dangerous goods or who has an interest in the way dangerous goods are transported.

The consultation is of particular relevance to consignors of dangerous goods, those who pack or fill containers or packages with dangerous substances for transport, those who load and unload vehicles transporting dangerous goods and enforcement authorities.
