Corporate Social Responsibility

At Chloros Environmental, corporate responsibility plays a key role in how we go about carrying out our operations.

Not only does our corporate responsibility policy ensure that we balance the demands of a profitable enterprise with the needs of our employees, partners, shareholders and the local communities within which we operate, it also creates a more stable future for our business.

A healthy approach to corporate responsibility involves safeguarding our employees by implementing safe working systems, providing employment opportunities for the local community, and furthering the skills of our staff by offering comprehensive training programmes.

Ultimately, our corporate responsibility policy works to foster relationships built on transparency and trust. We believe that fulfilling our responsibilities to those individuals and groups that make our business viable is a key priority.

Consequently, we’re continuously setting goals, monitoring our progress and searching for ways to improve our organisation and work processes.

We also work to support a number of charities, raising funds throughout the year. We have recently supported British Heart Foundation, Cancer Research, and Dementia UK, causes close to our hearts.

Dementia UK

As part of the GRG Waste UK group, Chloros Environmental has raised over £9k for Dementia UK following their third annual charity gala.

Employees and customers of GRG Waste UK were welcomed to the fabulous Las Vegas Nevada and took part in various fundraisers throughout the evening, including a live auction, silent auction, lucky dip, and casino games, alongside fabulous live entertainment and delicious food.

They had initially set a fundraising target of £5,000 for the charity event, however, their efforts exceeded expectations by raising a total of £9,036.13.

British Heart Foundation

As part of the GRG Waste UK group, Chloros Environmental formed a year-long charity partnership in 2021 with the British Heart Foundation. Staff from GRG Waste UK took on a series of challenges including a sponsored skydive and hiking 25 miles to complete the Yorkshire 3 Peaks on the hottest day of the year.

Employees also participated in a Christmas jumper day, a funky hair day and inhouse raffles. The company also organised a James Bond themed gala ball which alone raised more than £8,000.

They had initially set a fundraising target of £10,000 for the charity partnership, however, their efforts exceeded expectations by raising a total of £14,638.

Free of Charge Waste Collections

Since Spring 2020, Covid has induced many businesses and organisations to stock up on hand sanitiser in prodigious amounts. However, hand sanitiser does have an expiration date and requires compliant disposal by hazardous waste specialists.

Chloros recently agreed to carry out a free-of-charge collection of 56 boxes of 20x 200ml bottles of out-of-date hand sanitiser from a registered charity in Middlesborough, ready for onward disposal through our market-leading hazardous waste transfer facility.

Macmillan Cancer Support

As part of the GRG Waste UK group, Chloros Environmental has raised more than £8,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support following their second annual charity gala.

Employees and customers of GRG Waste UK were wined, dined, and entertained at the winter wonderland themed event alongside their friends and family and took part in various fundraisers throughout the evening, including a silent auction, live auction, grand prize draw and lucky dip.

They had initially set a fundraising target of £5,000 for the charity event, however, their efforts exceeded expectations by raising a total of £8,336.06.

Wear it Pink Day

On Thursday 19th October, team Chloros took part in a Wear it Pink Day, alongside the rest of the GRG sites, to raise money for Breast Cancer Now.

The 'Wear it Pink' campaign takes place during Breast Cancer Awareness month to raise awareness of the signs of breast cancer, with this year's focus on raising awareness of secondary breast cancer.

Our team at Unit 145 wore it pink and organised their own 'Bake Off' and we were delighted with everyone's efforts across the GRG sites, raising £900 for a deserving cause.

Food Bank Collections

Droitwich Spa Food Bank are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

Our team at Unit 145 chip in and collect food to donate to our local food bank every quarter.

Hampshire in Harmony

As part of the GRG Waste UK group, Chloros Environmental sponsored the Hampshire in Harmony on Saturday 21st October 2023, a combined choirs fundraising concert, in aid of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. The idea for the event was born out of a wish to show support to our emergency workers who continued to save lives during the Covid pandemic, ignoring all risks to themselves.

The event raised a staggering £2,812.21 for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, and GRG Waste UK are proud to support such a worthy cause.
