Name: Richard Hurdle

Job Title: Managing Director

History: Richard gained an honours degree in Environmental Science from Sussex University in 1996. Richard has a wealth of experience of all aspects of managing a hazardous waste management company, from sales, marketing and technical capabilities. Richard jointly founded Chloros Environmental in March 2009 with Jason Lee.

Role: Richard is involved with all aspects of the business and regularly attends customer site collections as well as making sure the business runs smoothly. 

Expertise: With over 18 years experience, Richard has worked his way through the waste management industry as a site chemist, site manager, commercial manager and now Managing Director. Richard can apply himself to any aspect of the business and produce top quality work. With an ADR and Forklift Licence, Richard is not afraid of mucking in when help is needed.

About me: Richard enjoys travelling and trail running, with a new found love of running Ultra Marathons. He also has an active role at Cirencester AC.

Name: Jason Lee

Job Title: Sales Director

History: Jason is a sales manager with over 25 years sales experience in the hazardous waste industry using his vast amount of knowledge and hands on experience to provide compliant and efficient solutions to customer’s hazardous waste enquiries. Jason jointly founded Chloros Environmental in March 2009 with Richard Hurdle.

Role: Jason is responsible for business sales and the day to day running of internal sales and marketing. Jason also has a very active role in the running of the transfer station in terms of cost monitoring and budgeting. 

Expertise: Jason has extensive knowledge of the waste industry and is capable of sourcing solutions for all types of business wastes with the aim of diverting as much waste away from landfill with re-use and recycling options.

About me: Jason manages both Junior Football and Cricket Teams, loves spending time with family and golf when possible

Name: Andrew David Sawers

Job Title: Director, Scotland

History: Andrew graduated with an honours degree in Chemistry from Heriot Watt University in 2000 and has worked within the Hazardous waste sector ever since. Beginning his career as a site chemist, Andrew quickly moved to roles with more responsibility firstly in Technical Sales and then on to managing various different treatment and transfer sites throughout Scotland. Andrew joined Chloros Environmental in February 2012.

Role: Andrew is responsible for all aspects of the business north of the border, this includes generating new business, managing existing accounts, sourcing recycling & disposal routes and ensuring all aspects of environmental and Health & Safety Legislation are met. Andrew also assists in the running of the Droitwich Transfer Station as Operational Director.

Expertise: WAMITAB COTC Holder, Level 4 Waste Treatment and Waste Transfer, DGSA, ADR, Forklift Truck Licence up to 5 Tonne. Andrew also has an extensive knowledge of waste treatment technologies including aqueous coagulants and oil based sludge separation using centrifuge technologies.

About me: Andrew is a keen golfer playing regularly at the world famous links at Carnoustie, Andrew also loves to spend time entertaining friends and family.

Name: Hayley Ann Hurdle

Job Title: EHS Manager

History: Hayley gained an honours degree in Marine Chemistry in 2007 and has since become a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry. She has had 8 years of experience in both the hazardous waste management and the Chemical Emergency Response sector. Hayley Joined Chloros Environmental in September 2010.

Role: Hayley concentrates on all Environmental, Technical, Health & Safety aspects at Chloros Environmental.

Expertise: Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA), NEBOSH General Certificate,  ADR and Forklift Licence. Hayley also has an extensive knowledge in CLP, REACH, CHIP, ADR & CDG legislation.

About me: When Hayley is away from the office, she loves to go out with Berkeley the dog, run, cycle, try to bake and take holidays, all with her baby boy Finley in tow! In her spare time, Hayley also provides help and advice to young people and their parents on day to day living with Type 1 Diabetes.

Name: Karen Portwood

Job Title: Customer Services Manager

History: Karen has 15 years experience in the waste management industry, covering a variety of roles including, operations, sales & site management.

Role: Karen’s primary role is to support the Directors in a business development role, building sales & marketing portfolio and bringing brand awareness of the company to potential new business/customers. Karen also assists in day to day office management and the maintenance of key accounts.

Expertise: Karen has held many accreditation's during her 15 year career ranging from basic first aid, through to ADR, Wamitab & DGSA. Other qualifications include: Accident Investigation, NEBSM Introductory Course to Supervisory Management, selling by Telephone & keeping valuable customers.

About me: Karen enjoys a simple life revolving around family, friends, the local, gardening, reading, holidays and weekend breaks - particularly getting away in her motor home.

Name: Nicholas Deacon

Job Title: Site Manager (Droitwich transfer Station)

History: Nick has an honours degree in Chemistry and a post graduate diploma in business Administration.  Since leaving university Nick has worked at and helped manage two of the busiest hazardous waste transfer station in the Midlands.
Nick started working for Chloros Environmental in August 2012.

Role: Although Nick’s primary role is as the Site manager of the transfer station in Droitwich, he is also a mobile chemist.  This involves listing and packing wastes on customer’s sites.

Expertise: Nick has helped to manage two of the busiest transfer stations in the Midlands.  His expertise lies in accurately identifying waste and quickly yet safely stored this waste in the appropriate bay.  Nick has knowledge of SGN 5.06 and HSG71.  Nick is a qualified forklift driver, a first aider, a trained banksman, a COTC holder, ADR Licence holder and a qualified fire marshal.

About me: In his spare time, Nick enjoys playing field hockey.  He is currently playing for Bournville Hockey Club in Birmingham where he is captain of the men’s 4th team.  Nick also enjoys playing golf at his club in Moseley.

Name: Jaclyn Keevil

 

Job Title: Finance Manager 

       

History: Jaclyn has worked in Finance for 10 years and was previously working for a large manufacturing company as a Manufacturing and Services Accountant in a team of 7. Jaclyn had been working for Chloros on a self-employed basis since July 2015, but decided to join the team on a permanent basis in January 2016.



Role: Jaclyn is based in our Fairford Office and works 4 days a week, normally Monday to Thursday. Her primary role is to oversee the smooth running of the Companies Finance Department.



Expertise: Fully qualified member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (MAAT), Lean Six Sigma trained, First Aid trained.



About me: A keen traveller, Jaclyn spent six years seeing the world, three of which were living in New Zealand. Now more settled she is enjoying life in the countryside bringing up her little boy, Bertie. Holidaying is still a favourite past time, she loves getting away for weekends at the coast, along with running, socialising and spending time with her family.

Name: Nick Grazier

Job Title: Site Chemist (Droitwich Transfer Station)

History: Nick is a highly trained and experienced industrial chemist and health and safety adviser. Nick has worked within the chemical industry for 30 years with more recent posts centred in particular around the hazardous waste industry. Nick joined Chloros Environmental in June 2013.

Role: Nick supports the Site Manager in site chemist role and assists in the day to day running and operation of the Waste Transfer Station, whilst maintaining compliance with the permit and all associated legislation. Works involve the reception, segregation and compatibility testing of incoming waste streams for bulking and dispatch for recycling or reworking.

Expertise: Nick is qualified to LRSC level and has gained his NEBOSH Health and Safety general certificate. He is confined space entry trained, a first aider, Wamitab, and forklift qualified.

About me: Nick has gained skills in plastering, building and carpentry through the complete renovation of his own property. Walking and small-bore target shooting provide recreation opportunities, whilst cooking and books are his more gentle pursuits

Name: Liz Gray

Job Title: Accounts Administrator

History: Liz moved to the Cotswolds in 2010 and worked previously in the NHS for a GP Practice in Lincolnshire for 15 years. Liz managed the daily finances of the practice, which included all aspects of accounting/book keeping for a dispensing practice with over 25 staff. Liz joined Chloros Environmental in December 2010.

Role: Liz is responsible for the invoicing, paying suppliers, bank reconciliations and all aspects of finance. Liz works part time and her normal working days are usually Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday.

Expertise: Liz has an ONC in Business Studies, ECDL in Computing and IAB in Sage Computerised Accounting.

About me: When Liz has spare time, she enjoys reading, walking and cycling. Liz has been married for 36 years, has two daughters and is also known as “Little Granny”. Liz likes to visit new places, both home and abroad, and can often be found on site visits!

Name: Rachel Coates

Job Title: Facility Administrator (Droitwich Transfer Station)

History: Rachel has 14 years in the hazardous waste industry has worked for one of the busiest Transfer Stations in the Midlands supporting all aspects of the administration within the site. Rachel joined the Chloros Environmental team in January 2014. 

Role: Rachel supports both the Site Manager and the Technical Assistant with their administration requirements and assists in the day to day running and operation of the Waste Transfer Station, whilst maintaining compliance with the permit and all associated legislation. Rachel acts as a centralised point of contact, otherwise known as 'the hub' when organising collections.

Expertise: Having worked on all aspects of the administration of a busy site, Rachel is able to adapt to most situations. Her friendly and approachable manner  enables both the Chloros Environmental team and  customers to arrange waste collections to run as smoothly as possible.

About me: Rachel lives in Worcester and enjoys walking her dog, any excuse to travel and has a keen interest in photography

Name: Sarah Sharp 


Job Title: Key Account Manager 

       

History:  Sarah graduated from Bristol University with a Masters Degree in 2007, and went straight into the Waste Industry, working her way from Graduate Chemist to Operations Chemist and then onto Account Management when she joined Chloros Environmental in July 2014.


Role: Sarah is responsible for generating new business,managing existing accounts, as well as supporting colleagues with the technical classification and Dangerous Goods Legislation.


Expertise: DGSA, ADR, Forklift, IOSH, First Aider.


About me: Sarah is a rugby girl at heart, captaining her local ladies team in Chipping Sodbury, running the club house bar alongside her husband who plays at the same club.When time allows, she loves to ski, go camping and gardening.

Name:  Sam Broomhead


Job Title: Technical Assistant 

       

History:  Sam gained a HNC in Chemistry in 2013. She has four years of experience working as a Chemical Analyst within the Aerospace Industry. Samantha joined Chloros Environmental in November 2015.

Role: Samantha's role includes technical assessments and classification of incoming waste. She is also involved with internal and external training courses as well as health and safety aspects of the business.



Expertise: ADR Trained.



About me: Samantha lives in Droitwich and has recently got married. She enjoys travelling, including recent visits to Iceland and Mexico. A trip to Las Vegas is planned for this year.

Chloros Environmental was established in 2009 by founding directors Richard Hurdle and Jason Lee.  Originally known as Wastesafe Ltd, we have become one of Britains fastest growing hazardous waste management and waste recycling companies with nationwide coverage in England, Wales, and Scotland.  A joint venture launched with Potter Logistics enabled us to open a brand new fully licensed transfer facility in the West Midlands.  In 2013 we decided to rebrand the company to reflect this rapid growth into new markets.  We continue to provide an exceptional service to our customers and deliver ethical sustainable waste management services with a strong emphasis on diverting waste away from landfill and towards recycling routes.  At Chloros Environmental we treat our customers, their waste, and the environment with care.
